Washing of the intestine
- In adults for the washing of the intestine prior to any procedure requiring a clean bowel (example : visual examination of the intestine including the endoscopy, an x-ray examination or a surgical procedure).
- Not indicated for the treatment of constipation.
Adults
- Washing of the intestine: 2 bottles (according to a scheme of administration on 1 day or over 2 days).
Mode of administration
- Can be diluted prior to administration.
- Scheme administration on day 1:

- At the beginning of the evening of the day prior to the procedure (e.g. 18 h):
- Take the first bottle diluted in water up to the mark (0.5 litres approximately).
- In the course of the 2 hours, take 2 glasses measuring additional filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (about 1 litre of water).
- About 2 hours after the start of the first administration (e.g. 20 h):
- Pour the contents of the second vial into the measuring jug provided and dilute in water up to the mark (0.5 litres approximately).
- Drink this solution and then 2 glasses measuring additional filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (about 1 litre of water) during the 2 hours following.
- Scheme administration split over 2 days:
- The day before the procedure (e.g. 18 h):
- Take the first bottle diluted in water up to the mark (0.5 litres approximately).
- In the course of the 2 hours, take 2 glasses measuring additional filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (about 1 litre of water).
- On the morning of the procedure (10 to 12 hours after the evening dose):
- Pour the contents of the second vial into the measuring jug provided and dilute in water up to the mark (0.5 litres approximately).
- Drink this solution and then 2 glasses measuring additional filled with water or a clear liquid up to the mark (about 1 litre of water) during the 2 hours following.
Outlet fluid total required: about 3 liters. Clear liquids allowed: water, tea, or coffee (no milk or cream without the dairy product), sodas, gaseous or non-gaseous, fruit juice, filtered without pulp (but which cannot be colored red or purple), a light broth or soup filtered free of solids. The day before the procedure:
- The patient may eat a light breakfast.
- Then, it will take only clear liquids for lunch, dinner and any other meal until the procedure has taken place.
- Liquids red or purple, milk and alcoholic beverages should be avoided.
The taking of the entirety of the solution will have to be completed:
- in the absence of anaesthesia: at least 1 hour before the start of the procedure.
- in case of anesthesia: usually at least 2 hours before the start of the procedure.
After the procedure: drink enough fluids to maintain a level of hydration is adequate.
