SPONGOSTAN STANDARD 1X2 - 70X50X10MM
Spongostan.
Sponge the gelatine in a sterile, absorbable, with a haemostatic action due to the porous surface of homogeneous sponge. When it is in contact with the blood, the large surface area of Spongostan leads to a rapid disintegration of platelets, which releases thromboplastin so that a normal clotting to occur.
Spongostan is non-toxic and does not generate any risk of allergic reactions. It adheres to the wound surface and absorbs approximately 50 times its own weight in blood.
It can be used dry or soaked in a solution of physiological saline or antibiotic. It has a neutral pH and can be easily cut in the desired shape. When Spongostan is introduced into the body, it is absorbed in the space of about 4 weeks, without the formation of scar tissue.
