Localized treatment of the Molluscum contagiosum of the skin.
Molluscum contagiosum (molluscum) is a viral infection of the skin benign and contagious, caused by a poxvirus. This condition causes the appearance of papules or nodules on the skin. It is common in children, usually 2 to 5 years, but can also affect young people and adults. Potassium hydroxide 10 % of MOLUSK® is a product at the pH of highly alkaline, corrosive, action cautérisante which acts on the skin at the external level, by distorting the protein substances of the tissues.
Mode of employment:
CAUTION : THIS PRODUCT IS CORROSIVE AND IT IS USED AS AN AGENT FOR CAUTERIZING. APPLY THE SOLUTION ONLY AND STRICTLY ON THE LESIONS TO TREAT. CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE INDICATIONS Of USE.
- The product should be applied 1 time per day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
- Repeat the application daily until the appearance of redness, irritation or inflammation at the base of the lesion, which usually occurs 4 to 6 days later. At this point, you will have to stop the treatment and do not apply on this point.
- Inflammation is the sign that the Molluscum contagiosum will disappear, which will happen in 2 to 5 weeks. You can continue with the daily application on the lesions where the inflammation has not occurred until it appears.
Caution : if the treatment is continued at the point where the inflammation or irritation has already emerged, ulceration of the treated area may occur. Do not apply the solution on the same injury more than 10 days in a row. If you forget to apply a day, do not do twice the next day. Apply it again once and continue until the appearance of the redness.
How to use the product ?
The application of this product must be performed by an adult. Children should not handle the product or touch it with the hands when it has been applied by the adult.
- STEP 1 : Unscrew the bottle cap and insert the applicator all the way inside. Remove the applicator, now moistened, and apply the product by gently touching each lesion with the tip of the brush for the most precise manner possible (avoid touching the healthy skin of the contour of the moluscum as this will cause irritation). ATTENTION ! Do not allow the liquid to come in contact with healthy skin or any other surface (clothing, delicate surfaces, etc). It is a corrosive substance.
- STEP 2 : WAIT 1 or 2 MINUTES (DRYING process) when it is applied in small touches made with the brush, let the product to dry for about 1 or 2 minutes. In the case of a child, pay particular attention to this that it does not touch the parts treated during the drying time.
- STEP 3 : REMOVE (FLUSH) After drying, rinse the area with water (using a compress of gauze soaked) to eliminate the remains of product, and then wash your hands with plenty of water. New applications in time : Repeat the previous steps. For applications later, you can keep the product with the applicator screwed. Stop the treatment immediately upon the onset of irritation, redness or inflammation. The treatment will then be completed and we will have to wait a few weeks for eu molluscum disappears. It is important to avoid scratching or manipulation of the treated lesion as a molluscum has not completely disappeared in order to avoid secondary infection.
Warnings:
- Do not apply to children under the age of 2 years, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
- Do not apply on areas of skin is thin or sensitive, such as the mucous membranes or the eye contour. The substance must not come into contact with the eyes.
- Do not swallow. Its use on the face is not recommended.
- Do not use in cases of Molluscum contagiosum infected.
- Do not use on skin that are irritated or infected, reddened or showing signs of inflammation.
- Do not use on skin that has an abnormal look.
- Not suitable for diabetics, the affected area may not heal as quickly or completely.
- Do not use during breast-feeding on body parts that may come into contact with the infant.
- Do not use if allergic to any of its components. The treatment can cause itching, a burning sensation, and irritation, and transitional. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation may occur after the disappearance of the Molluscum contagiosum treated. It will disappear spontaneously.
In case of accidental contact :
- If the product gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical help.
- If the product comes in contact with healthy skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
- Do not rub the eyes or mucous membranes if the product has come into contact with your fingers. Wash your hands immediately.
Other precautions:
- Keep product out of reach of children.
- Avoid contact with clothing or other materials that can be altered by alkalis. The bottle should be discarded four weeks after first opening. Do not dispose of this product in the drains or along with household waste. Return it to your pharmacist.
Recommendations:
Molluscum contagiosum is a contagious infection mild. To avoid the spread of the virus, avoid scratching, the contact of the affected area (skin to skin) with other individuals or by means of towels, sponges, bathing, swimming pools, etc

MOLUSK® is presented in a sealed device with applicator. It contains 3 g of solution.
