Viscoelastic Solution for injection into small joints : prefilled Syringes of 10 mg/1 ml, in a sterile packaging, box unit. Sterilized by steam.
Pain and decreased mobility in degenerative changes and traumatic of small synovial joints, for example joints interapophysaires of the lumbar vertebrae, the joint trapézométacarpienne of the thumb, the interphalangeal joints of the fingers and toes, the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe and the temporomandibular joint. For larger joints such as the knee, hip or shoulder, syringes prefilled with Ostenil 20 mg/2 ml should be used.
Inject Ostenil mini into the joint reached once per week, for a total of 1 to 3 injections. Several joints can be processed simultaneously. Depending on the degree of severity of the condition of the joint to the beneficial effects of a treatment cycle will last a minimum of 6 months. It is possible to repeat treatment cycles if necessary. In cases of effusion into a joint, it is advisable to reduce the effusion by aspiration, rest, application of an ice bag and/or intra-articular injection of a corticosteroid. Treatment with Ostenil mini can then be taken two or three days later.
The content and the external surface of the prefilled syringe Ostenil mini remain sterile as sterile packaging remains intact. Remove the syringe from the sterile pack, unscrew the capsule closure Luer Lock of the syringe, attach a needle to be appropriate (for example 19 to 25 G) and ensure its proper mounting by turning slightly. Eliminate any air bubbles from the syringe prior to injection.
The synovial fluid, in which the viscoelasticity is related to the presence of hyaluronic acid, which is present in all synovial joints, where it allows normal movement without pain thanks to its lubricating properties and shock absorption. It also provides nutrition to the cartilage.
In the case of degenerative joint disorders such as osteoarthritis, the viscosity of the synovial fluid is markedly reduced, which leads to a reduction of the functions of lubrication and shock absorption. This increases the mechanical load of the joint and destruction of cartilage. These phenomena result in a reduction of the mobility and the appearance of pain in the joint is reached. Supplementation of the synovial fluid through injections intra-articular hyaluronic acid highly purified to improve the viscoelastic properties. We observe an improvement of the lubricating properties and shock absorption as well as a decrease of the mechanical overload of the joint. As a general rule, it causes a decrease in pain and an improvement in joint mobility which may last for several months after a treatment cycle.
