Scientific studies (conducted mainly based on bacteria belonging to the strains Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) demonstrate that these bacteria may be useful:
in the framework of the prevention and treatment of disorders associated with the use of antibiotics;
in order to treat gastroenteritis and seizures diarrhoeal acute;
to relieve complaints due to lactose intolerance.
Probiotics can decrease the duration of attacks of diarrhoea both in children and in adults. In addition, they can be used to protect the subject against pathogens because they are thought to play an important role in the prevention of infections.
Only certain strains of bacteria are able to survive the action devastating of gastric juices and bile salts, to adhere then to the intestinal mucosa and exert a positive effect on the health of the subject as a true 'probiotic'. The bacteria/living organisms of the strain Bifidobacterium lactis are identified as Gram positive bacilli that constitute more or less one-quarter of the intestinal microflora.
