Chromium is present in our diet in 2 forms at least: as Cr3+ inorganic and form chromium biologically active known as FTG Factor Glucose Tolerance (English GTF = Glucose Tolerance Factor/chromium as FTG), an organic compound that acts synergistically with insulin. In addition, chromium plays an important role in the metabolism of nucleic acids, improves the glucose metabolism (metabolism glucosique) and stimulates the fluidity of biological membranes and/or increases the number of receptors to insulin. Chromium is present in brewer's yeast, liver, kidneys, cheese and most types of meat. Whole grains also contain chromium, but 90 % of it may be lost during the refining process.
