Cleen enema and Cleen enema pediatric are solutions rectal (administration through the anus). These are laxatives. They promote the defecation. They contain phosphates, which can increase the amount of water present in the intestine, which softens the stool.
They are used for :
- the symptomatic treatment of constipation of which origin is in the lower part of the intestine ;
- preparation for surgical and endoscopic examination of the rectum (examination of the rectum consisting in the introduction of the flexible probe through the anus) ;
- preparation for delivery (in cases of constipation nagging). The administration must always be carried out under the supervision of a physician.
You should talk to your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel less well after 7 days.
The active substances are :
Cleen enema : 1 bottle of 133 ml provides a dose of 118 ml. This dose contains 4.4 g sodium. Each dose of 118 ml contains 21.4 g (18.1 per cent w/v) phosphate monobasic sodium dihydrate and 9.4 g (8.0 per cent w/v) dibasic sodium phosphate dodécahydraté.
Cleen enema pediatric : 1 bottle of 66 ml provides a dose of 59 ml. This dose contains 2.2 g of sodium. Each dose of 59 ml contains 10.7 g (18,1 % w/v) phosphate monobasic sodium dihydrate and 4.7 g (with 8.0% w/v) dibasic sodium phosphate dodécahydraté.
The other ingredients are : benzalkonium chloride, edetate disodium and purified water.
The lubricant of the cannula is paraffin soft white
Give always Cleen enema and Cleen enema pediatric rectal (in the anus).
Adults and children 12 years and over :
The recommended dose is 1 bottle of Cleen enema 133 ml (which provides a dose of 118 ml), not to exceed more than one administration per day or as directed by your doctor.
Children aged 2 years to 12 years :
The recommended dose is 1 bottle of Cleen enema 66 ml (which provides a dose of 59 ml), not to exceed more than one administration per day or as directed by your doctor.
Do not give this medicine to children under 2 years of age.
Elderly Patients :
The recommended dose is 1 bottle of Cleen enema 133 ml (a dose of 118 ml), not to exceed more than one administration per day or as directed by your doctor. Cleen enema should be used with caution in elderly patients.
Patients with renal impairment :
Don't use Cleen enema if you are suffering from a significant alteration of the renal function. If you suffer from impaired renal function, it is possible that your doctor advises you to use this medicine if the benefit is more important than the possible adverse effects, an excess of phosphate in the body.
Patients with impairment of the liver :
It is not necessary to adjust the dose in patients with impaired liver.
